The OEM downpipe on the Mk7 GTI contains 2 catalytic converters which dampen the exhaust note considerably. Because of this, our HPA's cat-back system is available in 2 different trim options, Street and Competition. Our Competition version is ideal for vehicles running the OEM downpipe, and for those who prefer a louder than OEM exhaust. In contrast, our Street version allows for a drone-free exhaust note suited for cars with aftermarket high-flow downpipes, where exhaust shock waves are not dampened as with the OEM catalytic converter. Alternatively, vehicles fitted with the OEM downpipe can enjoy true OEM-like volume under daily driving conditions when the HPA mid-muffler is added. Competition exhaust owners may purchase the add-on muffler from our Street cat-back separately if desired.

HPA's Cat-Back Exhaust Systems redefine your expectations of a performance exhaust system. Enjoy the best of both worlds! The ultimate in free flowing exhaust performance with an OEM-like exotic note.

Hand manufactured in Canada, our exhaust systems work to revolutionize the exhaust flow of the VW 2.0T turbocharged platforms, without a total sacrifice in cabin comfort, through the integration of a back pressure relief valve.

HPA's cat-backs are CAD design optimized for flow and back pressure, then tested on a rolling road simulator. Each system is constructed with only the best materials. Stainless steel three inch mandrel bent tubing optimizes flow while the integrated mechanical bypass valve opening under WOT, reduces system back pressure. This is the HPA advantage. The sudden drop in back pressure under acceleration enables the turbo to spin more freely which in turn, reduces turbine EGT's. The lower exhaust manifold temps allow your ECU to maximize its ignition map. More ignition equals more power. The rear mufflers function only to dampen the exhaust noise for a pleasurable cabin experience while commuting in day-to-day traffic.

Great fitment and qualityReview by William

I own a 2015 gti I was one of the first in the U.S. to receive this exhaust had to wait a little bit for it but good things come to those who wait. The only issue for me is I am an emergency responder and respond at all different hours of the night and it was too loud for a call at 2am in the morning so I wound up selling it to a friend of mine who loves it. But other than that no issues. (Posted on 6/28/2018)
Great sounding option for the MK7 GTI! Review by Eddie

Vehicle: 2016 GTI: Stock tune and stock downpipe.
Tried with both competition and street setup.

Install:
I would typically tackle the install myself. But I had the guys at HPA Motorsports in Langley, BC (Which turns out wasn't too far from where I lived). As others have said, the fitment and quality of the system are top notch. I also had a chance to take a quick tour of their shop as well, to see where the exhaust is fabricated. I paired the exhaust with the throttle body style boost tap from CTS, another local shop. This, as I predicated, was the most time consuming aspect of the install, although some of you might opt for one of the other styles of boost taps available. The quality of the exhaust is superb, as shown in the photos.

Sound:
I had come from a MK6 2.5 golf. I've had several different exhaust setups on there, from an OEM GTI setup, as well as AWE and SPM setups. That being said, my goal this time around was to find something that would be OEM-like during my daily commute but would open up under WOT, which the bypass valve opening allows for. If this is what you`re looking for, then I would opt for the street setup with the OEM downpipe. I later swapped in competition midsection setup with the OEM downpipe is quite In both setups, there was no drone on the highway. The competition setup gave me the exact sound I was looking for, and often got compliments! (Posted on 6/28/2018)
